The classic white shirt

Ladies ladies ladies if only you know how much I love white shirts. This is part 2 of the 4 part series on staple pieces and once again it's an all time classic .Not only is a white shirt a classic piece it is also amazingly versatile. I would often advice that lady owns at least 2 classic white shirts one for more casual outfits and another for corporate/smart attire. I say this because of quality purposes and you wouldn't want a really expensive white shirt to lose its quality after being worn over and over again with everyday outfits.
In this post I have styled 4 outfits using a ladies fitted white shirt from HnM.

The first outfit is casual and can be worn to so many places including Uni,college or work places that allow casual attire. I wanted to make the white shirt look stylish and age appropriate, so I added a pair of denim jeans and brogue look a likes, which I felt really complimented the faux fur jacket. The burgundy bag and lips were paired together carefully because I thought they added the perfect touch to what would have been an otherwise simple outfit. Another thought I often bare in mind when styling in the winter is texture and depth the faux fur and suede brogues really make the outfit that much more interesting and the touch of burgundy adds depth and makes the outfit come alive.

This second outfit is one of my faves. This is a more dressy look that would definitely be seen as stylish and youthful due to the colours used. This outfit may not be for everyone as you would definitely have to work it with a bit of confidence. However it is easily achievable with other colours , or just the simple ensemble of a white shirt, jeans, blazer and killer heels. My mind is always working out colour combinations and I had already decided that if this was Summer I would've added a mustard bag and probably changed the heels. I love the way the cobalt blue, red and leopard print compliment one another without overpowering each other, allowing the white shirt to just blend in gently.

If you see yourself as the type of lady who doesn't mind turning a few heads( for all the right reasons of course) then this bold outfit is for you. This outfit shows you a chic way of wearing a white shirt, and is a great way to make a statement without looking over the top. Wearing just the jacket and palazzo pants alone with the white shirt didn't seem enough for me, so when I saw this scarf I had a lightbulb moment and it really pulled the whole look together. The scarf features burgundy and beige and works so well with the cobalt blue in the palazzos. This outfit is also a great way of creating a very feminine figure as the cropped blazer creates the illusion of a smaller waist, whilst the palazzo pants also nip you in at the waist and the wide legs create the illusion of more shapely hips.

We all know you can't go wrong with the classic pencil skirt, white shirt and jacket/blazer ensemble. This outfit is very classy and put together and would be very appropriate to a corporate setting. I decided to keep it classic all the way using navies, black, white and the elegant touch of red. The simple addition of the structured Chanel bag, red lips and pearl earrings alongside black court heels automatically upgrade an outfit from 'nice' to 'class'. This outfit also shows a subtle way to create that desired feminine figure without trying too hard.

Now you can see the power of a white shirt, and this is just using 4 looks!!!

TIPS
1. To lengthen your physique always use vertical lines and avoid horizontals as they draw the eye across which actually makes you look wider than you are.
2. For ladies with more boyish figures a cropped jacket alongside a high waisted piece will always pull you in at the waist and create the illusion of curves.
3. When choosing a white shirt, for a casual outfit go for lighter relaxed materials to avoid looking too serious and choose quality materials for more corporate affairs.
There will be upcoming posts soon on how to choose your LBD and white shirt.

Finally the two become one (the LBD and white shirt that is). In case you were wondering these two beauties are twins and Dayo was featured in the last post, and Doyin is the beauty that was featured in this post. You will see a lot more of them, I'm sure you love them already.
