The perfect blazer?

Happy Saturday beauties, this post is about blazers a favourite of mine, and it's the last of the staple series. Blazers are so timeless and instantly take an outfit from casual to chic in seconds. I have so many blazers and jackets yet I always find myself wanting more in a new colour ,cut  or design. Blazers have been around since the early 1800's  and were usually worn as part of a uniform or with formal outfits as part of a suit. The versatility of a blazer is amazing, it tallies very closely with heels in terms of its effectiveness to be able to change an outfit.

The working class lady
If you are the type of lady who needs to wear smart outfits to work, then a blazer is one of your best bets. Simply because it can easily make any outfit look formal, it covers the arm area so you wont be showing too much flesh, it does all the work for you so you can make less effort with the rest of your outfit and lastly it is extremely stylish. Wearing a blazer to work would normally require that you stick to formal colours, however if you work in a less formal setting but you still need to wear smart outfits then you can be a bit more free with colour. If you are the type of lady that likes to explore but you find that you're restricted with colour, then you can do so with cuts, fabrics and textures as shown below.

The chic lady
As a chic lady you don't just wear blazers because of formal events, you wear them because they're part of your everyday wear. You wear them with jeans and a t-shirt, with a shirt and a pencil skirt, with dresses, basically with everything. With this in mind, you are free to explore with colour, shape, cut, fabric and so much more, don't hold back. I personally think you can never have enough blazers, they're just so fab. Below are a few really stylish blazers that can give you an insight into building your blazer collection.

The casual lady
If you are the type of lady who is more laid back in the way you dress and you hardly wear blazers, it still wouldn't hurt to have one or two in your closet. There are events that may come up that require you to wear something a bit more dressy, so why not? If you don't want something too rigid in terms of material, you can get softer materials like cotton or polyester for example which would have a looser fit. These would also allow you to wear them with a t-shirt, jeans and converses/trainers or a skater skirt and heels. I have chosen some below that may reflect the style of a casual lady.

Hourglass
Problem area whilst shopping : small waist

As an hourglass woman your choices are rarely limited, but what you want to focus on is accentuating your lovely slim waist, and stay away from boxy masculine jackets as these are no good for your feminine figure. Tailored jackets look great on you, and cropped jacket are perfect for your figure especially when worn with high waisted trousers, skirt  or pencil dress. Be mindful that blazers that stop at the widest part of your hips will make them appear bigger,so one that rests just above your hips will flatter your figure well.

Pear
Problem area whilst shopping: Balance

As a pear shape your best bet when buying a blazer would be one that is structures and has some sort of detailing around the shoulder area as this will broaden your slim shoulders whilst balancing out your hips. If you choose a blazer that stops directly beneath your waist or on your hips this is more likely to slim them as oppose to going for one that stops directly beneath your waist or on your hips as it will widen them. Refrain from going for Jackets that have a lot of detailing and ruffles at the bottom as these will only add bulk to your hips and make them appear bigger than they are. Choose vertical lines as they are slimming and will make you appear more streamlined. If you choose to go for a lighter coloured blazer then to balance out your proportions opt for a darker colour below. Choosing a darker shade of the colour of your blazer is also a good way to balance out your proportions without cutting your figure in half, as complete opposite colours will cut you in half making you appear shorter and wider.

Apple /Top heavy
Problem area whilst shopping: Full stomach/ bust

As a lady with a full stomach or full bust you want to refrain from double breasted blazers or any type of blazer that will add bulk to the breast area with buttons or detailing. To avoid drawing attention to the bust or stomach refrain from choosing a jacket that is really fitted or tight around the stomach area, instead lighter materials that skim the waist will help to create a more streamlined figure. To create a slimmer waist a cropped jacket is great as it defines the waist area creating the illusion of a slimmer waist, specifically when worn with an A-line dress (not something tight). Wearing your jackets open instead of closed will help streamline your figure as it draws the eye downwards and doesn't look like you're struggling to breath, or your jacket is too tight.

Straight/Slender
Problem area whilst shopping : Create curves

As this type of lady you want to be able to create curves where you may not have some. Tailored jackets are your best bet as they would cinch you in at the waist and create a more feminine figure. Jackets with ruffles or detailing at the bottom area will add volume to the hip area making you appear fuller and not so slender. Wearing a cropped jacket with a high waisted piece will also give you a beautiful figure.

Ladies remember these are guidelines and not strict rules, they are only here to help you when you're out shopping. Style is more of a balance between knowing what looks good on you, and making things look good on you, so with all your outfits wear them with a beautiful smile, a straight back and confidence. You are beautiful.
